The Work Beneath is a monthly Artist Talk Series held at Wolverine Farm Publick House in Fort Collins, Colorado on the second Tuesday at 6:30pm. Each month features rotating speakers, from emerging to established artists, who share their journeys through creativity, identity, mental health, and everything in between.
Talks are intimate, honest, and community-centered, with space for dialogue, Q&A, and connection.
We host solo artist talks and artist panels, all with a focus on what's underneath the work: the doubt, the growth, the healing, and the unseen process.
Too often, artists feel alone in their journey. This series exists to break that isolation, to say, “Me too. I’ve been there.”
We believe art is not just what we make, it’s why we make it. This series creates space for that “why.”
We are Liz Ortiz (printmaker, educator, and founder of Mad Hare Press) and Stacey Sickler (mixed media artist and founder of Peaced Together Art). Together, we believe in the power of storytelling, vulnerability, and creative process — and the importance of building spaces where artists feel seen, heard, and supported.
We are always looking for artists to join future talks.
If you’re interested in giving a solo talk, participating on a panel, or leading a creative demo, fill out our Artist Interest Form HERE.
You do not need to be a professional speaker or have gallery representation. If you’ve got a story and a practice, you’re ready!
We’d love to hear how the talk impacted you. Your thoughts help us shape future events. Fill out the Audience Feedback Survey HERE.
Talks are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Wolverine Farm Publick House.
Each session features a new topic and new artists. You can find upcoming events on:
